Ankle Instability

Sometimes, the improper healing of ankle ligaments after a sprain may lead to a condition called ankle instability. In this condition, the ankle tends to give way even while walking on uneven terrains. There are several recommendations your doctor will suggest to overcome this ankle problem.

You may have to change and use footwear that prevents your ankle from turning in. you may have to place a heel wedge on the outer half of your heel to prevent the ankle from rolling. In extreme cases, you may have to wear a plastic brace to hold and prevent your ankle from rocking from side to side. If you have ankle instability, it is better to avoid wearing high-heeled shoes.
